About this experience

Spreading over an area of 8 villages & town in Tam Nong District, the Tram Chim National Park is a miniature of the Dong Thap Muoi province in Mekong Delta, featuring a broad and diverse range of animals and plants in the Southern Vietnam. The total area of Tram Chim National Park is more than 7500 hectares, housing as many as 200 types of birds which make up ¼ the bird population in Vietnam. Among several Red Book-listed birds in Tram Chim, the most typical and most well-known one is the Red-crown Crane, one of the last 15 crane pieces in the world.

It takes around 3.5 hours to reach the national park from Ho Chi Minh City by car. Leaving Ho Chi Minh City from the early morning to head to Tram Chim national park 155 km away, you will have chance to enjoy the wetlands peaceful life of Mekong delta and learn more about the rare birds in this park. This trip will also offer you a chance to engage in conversation with local residents and get to know their Mekong Delta culture values and lifestyle.

Your itinerary

Ho Chi Minh City – Tram Chim National park – Tram Chim Rustic homestay – Ho Chi Minh City

08:00 – You will be picked up at your hotel in center of Ho Chi Minh City and taken to Tram Chim national park, Tam Nông Đồng Tháp province, stopover en route to have some traditional coffee

11:30 – Arrive at Tram Chim national park Information center and learn about general info about the reserve.  

12:00 – Enjoy a local lunch.

13:30 – In the afternoon, you will embark on a solar powered boat to visit Tram Chim national park – one of the four Ramsars in Vietnam (an international treaty for the conservation and sustainable use of wetlands) where you will be introduced to a range of typical animals, birds, and plants in the Southern Vietnam, especially the prestigious Red-crown Crane, one of the last 15 crane pieces in the world.

After that, you continue on a self-rowing boat where you can experience the ecosystem and then walking through the trails inside the reserve.

16:00 –  Join in a local traditional handicraft workshop and learn to make water hyacinth product (optional)

16:30 – 17:30 – Visit a local family to row and fish on a lotus field, engage in conversation with them and enjoy local products made out of lotus such as lotus seed milk, lotus seed soup (chè sen)

17:30 Depart to Ho Chi Minh City

20:30 Arrive at HCMC
